Introducing Physician Match

One of the major barriers for many people when they consider a sabbatical is finding someone to replace them during a sabbatical. The Physician Match pairs physicians to make sabbaticals or part time work possible.

Here’s how it works:

Fill out the form

For physicians who want to go on sabbatical

If you want to leave your job and work somewhere abroad, you’ll likely need someone to cover for you. Tell us about your town and practice setting so we can find someone interested in your area.

If you’re looking for a short-term sabbatical in the US, tell us where you’d like to spend time and we’ll match you with physicians looking for a short-term replacement. Maybe you want to spend time near an ailing family member, for example, but need to continue to work clinically during that time. Or you’ve always wanted to live near a beach or in the mountains, but don’t want to sell your house and move thousands of miles away without checking it out first. Or you’ve lived in a suburban home your whole life and want to move to New York City for a few months to teach your kids how to ride the subway and not get hit by a taxi. This is a great opportunity to try a new place in a low-pressure way.

For physicians who want to work part-time

If you are interested in a job-share, Physician Match helps a colleague with similar clinical and geographic interests. Once matched, you can market yourself to practices as a full FTE (or even more than one FTE). This makes it easier for practices to identify good candidates without having to plug “holes” in a 1.0 FTE position.

Your interest in a sabbatical or part-time work don’t have to be immediate; finding a replacement or job-share colleague often takes a long time, so fill out the form now. We’ll alert both parties if we find a match.
